Foundation with $551.68 million in assets adds two board members

The late Baranciks' son is one of the new board members.

A Sarasota foundation recently appointed a former screenwriter and senior law partner to its board of directors. 

Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation announced Steve Barancik, a former screenwriter and educator and the son of the foundation’s late founders, Charles and Margery Barancik, is one of the new board members. The other is Ben Hanan, a senior partner at the Sarasota office of law firm Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, according to a statement. 

“The Last Seduction,” one of the movies Barancik, who has four credits on his IMDb page, worked on during his career received a nomination for the 1995 Edgar Allan Poe Awards for Best Motion Picture. 

Hanan practices business and estate planning at Shumaker as an attorney and CPA, the release states. He’s active in the Sarasota community as a member of both the All Faiths Food Bank and Bradenton Area Economic Development Corp. board. Hanan is also a founding IMG Academies Student-Athlete Foundation director. 

According to nonprofit research service provider Candid GuideStar, Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation has $551.68 million in assets.
